Common questions
How is engagement rate calculated?
By followers: add up the likes, comments, shares and saves on a post, divide by your followers and multiply by 100. For several posts, divide by the number of posts too. By impressions or views: divide the same total by the impressions or views instead.
What's a good Instagram engagement rate?
The median Instagram post from a brand account gets 0.36% by followers, according to the Rival IQ 2025 Social Media Industry Benchmark Report (2024 data, brand accounts). Small and creator accounts usually get more, so compare yourself with accounts your size and with your own past posts.
Followers or impressions?
By followers is the most common way to compare accounts. By impressions shows how people who actually saw the post reacted, which is fairer for posts that reached people who don't follow you.
Which interactions should I count?
Tools differ: some count only likes and comments, others add shares and saves. Count the same ones every time so your posts compare fairly. Leave a box empty to leave it out.
