New account? Warm it up before posting with tenfeeds
Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook and X are careful with brand-new accounts. If a new account starts posting through an app like tenfeeds on day one, the platform may hold the post back as spam or limit the account for a while. A short warm-up avoids that.
Why this happens
Platforms are always fighting spam bots, and a brand-new account that posts through an app looks a lot like one. This happens with every scheduling tool, not just tenfeeds. The common advice across the industry is to give a new account about a week before posting from an app.
Warm up a new account (about a week)
- Finish the profile in the platform's own app: profile photo, name and bio.
- Post a few times from the phone app during the first week. Around 10 posts is a good target.
- Use it like a person would: scroll, like and follow a few accounts you care about.
- Clear any notice the app shows you, like confirming your birthday, email or phone number.
- Then start slowly in tenfeeds: one or two posts a day for the first week, not a big batch at once.
Platform notes
- Instagram: new accounts are the most likely to have app posts held back. Post from the Instagram app first. You can only add a website link to your profile from the phone app.
- TikTok: post a few videos from the TikTok app first, and keep links out of a new account's bio. Until TikTok finishes reviewing tenfeeds, your TikTok account must be private, and you must pick Only me.
- Threads: your Threads profile runs on your Instagram account, so warm up Instagram too.
- Facebook Pages: give a new Page about a week and post from Facebook a few times first.
- X: new accounts start with limited reach until X sees normal activity like reading, liking and replying. Don't post the same text from several X accounts; X treats that as spam.
- YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Bluesky are less strict, but the same habits help.
If a post gets blocked as spam
- Don't keep retrying. Repeated tries during a block can make it last longer. tenfeeds never retries these automatically.
- Open the platform's app and clear any notice it shows.
- Post once from the app, then try again in tenfeeds the next day.
- Change the caption a little if it happens again: fewer hashtags and no links.
